ViaAqua\u00ae pump must be operated fully submersed at all times.<\/li>\n
Do not reduce the input of the pump.<\/li>\n
Verify that the pump size fits the application without dramatically restricting the flow. Consult your local dealer or manufacturer\u2019s guidelines for the proper size and model of ViaAqua\u00ae pump.<\/li>\n
When connecting flexible tubing to the intake of the pump use a hose clamp to insure water tightness.<\/li>\n
Use a float valve to insure a consistent water level and to insure the pump is operated fully submersed at all times.<\/li>\n

Under-gravel Filtration System<\/strong><\/p>\n

Remove the main housing strainer and attach the undergravel filter strainer to the intake of the pump. Next attach the undergravel filter adapter to the undergravel filter strainer.<\/li>\n
Position the pump where as it will be fully submersed at all times. This may take some modifications to the uplift tube of the undergravel filter.<\/li>\n
Use the provided suction cups or pump hanger to secure the pump on the back wall of the aquarium.<\/li>\n
Replace the impeller if there are any signs of excess wear or damage.<\/li>\n
Failure to maintain a ViaAqua\u00ae pump will cause permanent damage to the impeller and\/or the pump. Routine maintenance is of the utmost importance to keep your pump working well.<\/li>\n
Verify that there is not any gravel in the uplift tube and\/or U.G. filter strainer. Failure to do so will cause damage to the pump.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Note: If air and water is desired to be discharge from the pump, follow next step.<\/p>\n

Remove the air stopper from the venturi discharge and connect a piece tubing and air silencer to the venturi discharge.<\/li>\n
If the pump is more than 4\u201d below the surface of the water, the venturi will not work. The Airline tubing and silencer must be out of water to suck in air.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

Maintenance\uff1aTo ensure a properly operating pump: Clean pump, impeller and intake strainer every 3 weeks. Failure to do so will cause premature failure of the pump.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Disconnect the pump from the power supply prior to removing the pump from the water.<\/li>\n
Remove either the prefilter or intake filter strainer. Rinse out prefilter sponge of debris.<\/li>\n
Remove the impeller well cover.<\/li>\n
Once the impeller well cover is removed, slide both the impeller and shaft out of the main body of the pump and clean well. Do not use any soap detergents during cleaning.<\/li>\n
After the impeller and shaft are cleaned, use a small brush to clean inside of the motor housing.<\/li>\n
Reassemble above parts and your ViaAqua\u00ae pump is again ready to use. Confirm that all the washer and bushing a reassembled properly. Failure to do so will cause permanent damage to the pump.<\/li>\n
